About the Role

The Trauma Counselor is responsible for providing trauma informed peer counseling to individual, couples, and family support as well as facilitating general and specialized support groups for adult and adolescent sexual assault survivors and their significant others. The Trauma Informed Counselor works with diverse populations and clients in marginalized communities. In this role counselors provide unconditional positive regard to survivors of violent crime. Help survivors identify coping skills and tools to thrive. We do not provide clinical therapy. Supervision provided for individuals seeking advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology preferred; clinical licensure (LSW/LCSW or LPC/LCPC) preferred.

  • Experience providing trauma informed services.

  • Bilingual (Written and verbal fluency) in Spanish/English strongly preferred.

  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to facilitating presentations on sexual violence, gender-based violence and violent crime required.

  • Previous experience working on addressing sexual violence/gender-based violence, and working with diverse populations including LGBTQI communities strongly preferred.

  • Completion of a 52-hour Crisis Response Training within 30 days of hire is required; previous completion of the training is very strongly preferred.

  • Flexibility to work some evening and overnight hours required.
